One of my students recently asked me whether patience could be learned after mentioning the following quote:
“I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No. Patience is a byproduct of tribulations; it isn’t granted, it is learned.” – Claudia Minden Weisz, “And God Said ‘No’”
Patience is indeed learned and not granted, but we cannot learn patience directly. We learn patience from our lives. Over time, we simply change and become more patient.
I myself used to be fiery, but I have become more patient over the years. It simply comes with experience, with years that we add to our lives, with suffering and with old age.
