The mind serves desires. If we aim our desires at striving to achieve life’s ultimate goal, which is for humanity to positively connect and reach harmonious balance with nature, then such a mind is beneficial. We should encourage its activation, development and stimulation.
If, however, we direct the mind at harming others, then of course we need to seek ways of taming it, because it then holds us back from life’s goal.
In other words, it does not matter if we become overwhelmed by various animalistic pursuits. What matters is that we aim the mind, which belongs to the human level, at attaining positive connection with others, and by so doing, bring ourselves into balance with nature’s laws of interconnection and interdependence.
