Money represents the ability to satisfy our desires. Throughout history, humanity has used various substances as currency, including golden sand, coins, and other materials, to fulfill this purpose.
In recent times, however, humanity has begun to critically examine its ability to meet desires. We have come to realize that we cannot sustain our needs indefinitely, especially when it comes to the environment. The Earth simply cannot endure our excessive consumption.
We have created countless artificial needs that are unnecessary, straining the planet’s resources to a breaking point. The Earth cannot support endless luxuries and the infrastructure required to sustain them. It is akin to a farmer consuming his entire harvest without leaving seeds for the next crop—exhausting his resources and ultimately facing starvation.
In society, we face a similar issue with money. The systems we have created to fulfill our desires are unsustainable. To address this, we must change our approach to one that is nondestructive.
While human development is essential, it is shaped by the needs we acquire over time. From childhood, our desires grow by observing those around us. The desire to emulate others creates new needs, propelling personal and societal progress. If we establish an environment that encourages the development of non-material desires, we can continue to grow and fulfill these needs without endangering our planet or physical existence.
By shifting our focus to appreciate that which elevates us above our animalistic lives, we can develop aspirations that let us rise above materialism. Such desires, when nurtured, lead to growth, fulfillment, and progress without threatening our survival.
It is written, “Go and make money from each other.” Beyond its material interpretation, this means cultivating new needs through deeper connections among people. These connections create new desires, and like assembling a mosaic, we continuously form and fulfill combinations of these desires.
As these needs stem from our connections, their fulfillment will also require collective motions to positively connect. Life will become an endless collaborative game of creating and satisfying desires. Among the 8 billion people on Earth, this process will provide infinite opportunities to feel hunger and fulfillment anew, preventing dissatisfaction.
Through these connections, we will access nature’s inner, hidden layers. By uniting with others, we will discover and experience deeper realities within ourselves. This sublime attainment offers genuine pleasure because humanity was designed to uncover these internal layers, where true fulfillment resides.
Ultimately, our collective motions to positively connect and fulfill each other’s needs will redefine the concept of money. After a long historical journey, we will arrive at a new form of currency—a collective “screen” that enables us to meet all our needs harmoniously. This new genuine covering upon our desires will let us sustain ourselves while achieving enduring fulfillment.
