Money (“Kesef” in Hebrew) represents a covering (Kisui) over egoism, the desire to enjoy for self-benefit alone. It lets us either fulfill our desires to enjoy inwardly for ourselves alone or use them to benefit others. With money, we can choose to work for our ego’s gain or against it.
In an interconnected world, money should serve to unite people. We should keep only what we need for basic living and dedicate any surplus to the world’s correction, i.e., so that humanity develops positive connections of mutual consideration, support, and encouragement.
In a future, corrected world, money will vanish. Society will provide for everyone’s needs, eliminating the desire for excess. If no one requires more than life’s necessities, money becomes irrelevant.
To regulate exchanges between individuals, companies, and factories in a global system, a new measure of value will emerge. This measure will not involve paper money but will reflect the degree of each person’s contribution to others.
Even in a world of bestowal, we need a “currency,” but it will measure unity, not material gain. “How much did you pay?” will translate to, “How much unity did your actions create?” Today, by contrast, our payments reflect how much we take for ourselves, which deepens division between people.
In the future, true value will come from cultivating positive human connection.
