What’s Wrong With Communism?

Communism’s past mistake was that people were forced to live under certain conditions that were labelled as “communism.” In order for a cooperative society to work, people cannot be forced but rather must want to apply its conditions out of their own accord, and such a desire can emerge via education. Living as a cooperative society thus can be gradually introduced and does not require any grand revolutions. It can be a small group of people, like a kibbutz, which can exemplify the possibility to live in such a way.

The extent to which equality can spread throughout society depends on the society’s moral level, i.e., how much society itself desires that its members become unified and equal. It is an important principle that relations of social equality cannot be forced, but must arise out of a social consensus.

Education toward a unified and equal society means that people learn about how human nature and nature in general operate, and what it means to live in accordance with the integral laws of nature. If we learn the laws of nature and how we can reach balance with those laws, then we can reach a new state of balance within society. Such a balanced and equal state in society, however, is nothing like what we know as “communism” from humanity’s past attempts. On the contrary, balance and equality in society can emerge when society’s members gain the wisdom to understand that it is most beneficial to live in a positive connection with each other and nature.

We thus require a new kind of learning that leads us to relations of mutual respect, consideration and support. When we rise to such a state, we will then find ourselves living in a problem-free world. We can then experience a state of true equality, where every person is given an equal opportunity to achieve their dream—a dream we can learn how to process and define through connection-enriching learning.
