Love means that I fulfill the desire of the other before my own. It is as simple as that. What desire? It doesn’t matter; I fulfill it. I need to know what my partner wants to feel, what they desire, and that their desire becomes more important to me than my own. That is what it means to love them.
In a perfect, spiritual relationship the couple feels themselves as existing in a single body, in agreement, understanding, completion, in mind and heart, and in all of their inclinations. Whatever exists in the body, mind, or heart of the other is felt as oneself. These are not merely pleasant words, but on a physiological level, if something pains my partner, I feel it as my own pain, even without them telling me. It is a connection between bodies as souls.
We will reach such love in the relationships between couples when we start correcting ourselves to achieve love on a more collective scale.
The first step toward the perfect relationship between partners is to start looking at each other as though you are both parts of one reality. Start developing sensations that each of you starts feeling the other as part of yourself. We can develop this inner sense, and by doing so, we will have no problem: without speaking or needing anything, we will be able to constantly remain in the mutual feeling of togetherness.
