Baal HaSulam, the greatest and most renowned Kabbalist of the 20th century, wrote about the possibility of a Third and even a Fourth World War. For instance, in his “Writings of the Last Generation,” he wrote:
“There are two ways to discover the completeness: the path of Torah or the path of suffering. The Creator has given humanity technology, until they have invented the atom and the hydrogen bombs. If the total ruin that they are destined to bring upon the world is still not evident to the world, they can wait for a third world war, or a fourth one. The bombs will do their thing and the relics that remain after the ruin will have no other choice but to take upon themselves this work, where both individuals and nations will not work for themselves more than is necessary for their sustenance, while everything else they do will be for the good of others. If all the nations of the world agree to it, there will no longer be wars in the world, for no person will be concerned with his own good whatsoever, but only with the good of others.”
Many ask if this will happen. Kabbalists see the general system of management and the potential paths before us. They see that freedom of choice exists for each individual and for all of humanity.
There are two ways we can progress through reality: the way of suffering or the way of Torah, the way of the light. The way of Torah does not refer to religion. It rather describes the learning of how nature’s laws operate, how human egoistic nature is opposite to the general altruistic law of nature, and how we can shift from egoism to altruism in order to achieve balance with the general law of nature, and thus, a harmonious, peaceful, and happy existence. If we choose to live according to the usual materialistic path, focusing only on physical existence, then this world will inevitably lead us to a dead end. It will push us to an unbearable state that will ultimately force us to ascend. However, before we reach the decision to rise above our current level, we might experience extreme suffering, including the horrors of World Wars Three and Four, as well as other catastrophic events. So far, we see that nothing in the world is changing for the better.
World Wars Three and Four, along with ecological disasters, famine, climate crises, earthquakes, and other upheavals, are all latent in nature’s plan. These events exist as potential scenarios, waiting to be activated depending on our choices. Their purpose is to shake humanity, to awaken us, to make us feel the necessity for a new level of development where we voluntarily balance ourselves with nature’s general altruistic law. But if we approach such threats from a purely physical perspective, focused solely on our survival, we will experience these transformations in the most painful way.
If we choose to elevate ourselves to balance with nature, we connect to completely different forces. Instead of being forced to evolve through suffering, we influence the system of nature’s management on us. Then, our current reality will not compel us to transform through suffering and we will instead rise to the next, higher level of existence by our free choice.
Everything will then appear different. The world will transform into a wonderful place, and we will integrate into its management. We will advance with understanding, knowing why things happen the way that they do, and where we are headed. This approach will completely change our lives and our attitudes.
We will then progress by the so-called “ray of light,” i.e., rising above our animalistic existence and developing a desire to connect to something higher. The system of nature’s management exists above our egoistic perception and sensation, and it is upon us to grasp it and integrate into it. We all need to go through this process, and those who have not yet done so will inevitably experience it in their own time.
